Rhinoceros in the Park

The rhinoceros has followed Galstyan since his first solo project. In 1995, after a staging of Ionesco’s Rhinoceros at the Goy Theatre Laboratory in Yerevan, the audience left the hall and found the corridor filled with rhinoceroses of wet, unfired clay. At first people stopped. Then they walked out over them.
Later the animal became a series of sculptures in white and in dark patina, shown here outdoors on the grass of a park in Yerevan.
